As part of the conference ‘Teaching and Research: Understanding the 
Modern Academy’, this strand call welcomes contributions to debates 
about best practice teaching and research in art and media studies today.
Examining this from across disciplines, this strand is interested in 
presentations on issues including, but not limited to: teaching tech, 
online learning, flipped classrooms, ungrading, peer assessment, 
innovative research projects, and more.
Papers may be focused on teaching methods and practices on their own 
terms, examinations of teaching as a subject of research in and of 
itself, or research projects and practice that inform our teaching in 
one way or another.


Disciplines we seek to bring together include:

Digital art, technology, animation, film, media studies, computer 
science, architecture….
