We are pleased to announce the call for applications for the *ICA 2026 
preconference

This one-day preconference titled “*Echoes and Overlaps in Arab and 
African Thought on Media and Culture: Forging New Directions for 
Research*” builds on last year’s ICA preconference to explore 
Arab–African intellectual exchange in media and culture, spotlighting 
non-Western epistemologies, South-to-South solidarities, and decolonial 
research approaches.


This preconference is jointly organized by *#IAS_NUQ at Northwestern 
University in Qatar*, in collaboration with the *Centre for Film and 
Media Studies* and *Digital Media Sociology Lab* at the *University of 
Cape Town*, and the *Center for Media, Religion, and Culture* at the 
*University of Colorado Boulder*.
