The conference invites academics, journalists, athlete representatives, sports officials, supporter groups, and other stakeholders in sport to contribute their research, knowledge, and experiences to conversations centered around democracy, transparency, and freedom of expression in sport. The convention is a great fit for scholars studying communication, journalism, politics, governance, management, deviance, and social issues as they pertain to sport.

The event happens *October 5-8, 2025, in Tampere, Finland*. The conference website can be accessed at https://www.playthegame.org/conferences/play-the-game-2025/ <https://www.playthegame.org/conferences/play-the-game-2025/>.  The *due date for abstract or storyline submission is 15 May 2025.*

The *key conference themes *are:
- The geopolitical power games in sport
- Safe sport: Protecting athletes and those who interact with sport
- Behind the game: Gambling, match-fixing, and exploitation in sport
- Inclusion and diversity: Breaking barriers in sport
- AI: An asset or a risk for sports?
- Sport, climate, and sustainability: Between authentic efforts and greenwashing
- ClearingSport: How can we best constrain corruption and crime in sport?
- Anti-doping: Can trust and transparency be restored?

*Abstracts or storylines are due 15 May 2025, *and can be submitted here: https://ptg.manuscriptmanager.net/sLib/v4/login.php?paramScreen=VFxMPB+SCS6dXPixxeFalg/ha0KzbUQ+LE1f1YPknIs= <https://ptg.manuscriptmanager.net/sLib/v4/login.php?paramScreen=VFxMPB+SCS6dXPixxeFalg/ha0KzbUQ+LE1f1YPknIs=> Abstracts should include a title; up to five keywords; a short summary (max. 75 words); a full abstract or storyline (max. 500 words); and up to ten references.  Academic submissions undergo a double-blind peer review.  Accepted submissions will be offered either a 10-minute speaking slot or participation in an alternative session format (e.g. workshops, roundtables). New presentation formats are also under development. Organizers will notify submitters about acceptance by e-mail no later than 15 June 2025.
