*Call for Papers: ECREA Communication Law and Policy Conference 2025*

We are excited to announce that the "Communication Law and Policy" (CLP) <https://commlawpolicy.wordpress.com/ <https://commlawpolicy.wordpress.com/>> Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) is inviting abstracts for its upcoming conference/workshop on *"Media Freedom and Pluralism in the Age of AI and Platforms: A New Era for Media Policy/Regulation?"*. This event will be hosted by the research centre imec-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)< https://smit.research.vub.be/ <https://smit.research.vub.be/>> in Brussels, Belgium, on *18-19 September 2025*.

The event is organised by the members of the Media Economics and Policy Unit (MEP) at SMIT, namely Tim Raats (ECREA CLP vice-chair), Heritiana Ranaivoson and Adelaida Afilipoaie, with the support of ECREA CLP chair Sally Broughton Micova and vice-chair Tales Tomaz.

Join us for the two-day event to discuss your research progress or initial findings on topics like:

  * Public values and norms for private platforms
  * The impact of the DSA, DMA, and EMFA
  * Reforms in the AVMSD
  * Prominence and discoverability of local content and services
  * Media concentration
  * AI Act and AI’s impact on media sectors
  * Inclusion and inequalities in the fields of media and communication

*Abstract Deadline:* 15^th  March 2025
