[Commlist] Urban Mediations: International Conference on the Narratives, Ecologies, and Poetics of the City

We’re excited to share with you our upcoming conference, 'Urban Mediations: International Conference on the Narratives, Ecologies, and Poetics of the City,’ co-hosted by City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 5-6 December 2024. This is a cross-institutional, interdisciplinary conference with nearly 60 established and emerging scholars from diverse fields of study, including literary and cultural studies, film and media studies, architectural and urban studies, art and visual studies, cultural anthropology, history, and geography, applying various critical and creative methods to analyze different cultural genres and analytical objects that engage with the urban across geographic locations and historical periods. The conference will feature an artist talk and a walking tour. Workshops will be conducted on emerging topics for PhD students. Plenary speakers include Lieven Ameel (Tampere), Nishat Awan (UCL), Cecilia L. Chu (CUHK), Dominic Davies (City St. George’s), Peter Dickinson (Simon Fraser), Lee Kah-Wee (NUS), Gina Marchetti (Pratt), Jasmine Nadua Trice (UCLA), Jini Kim Watson (Melbourne), and Linda Chiu-han Lai (CityUHK).
