[Commlist] Call for book Proposals -Global Perspectives on Music and Sound in Visual Media

Fri Oct 27 21:25:28 GMT 2023

We are inviting proposals for monographs and edited collections for a new book series titled *Global Perspectives on Music and Sound in Visual Media <https://rowman.com/Action/SERIES/_/LEXMSVM>* at Lexington Books, an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield.

The series aims to critically examine the ways that music and sound are used, evoked, or otherwise deployed in film, television, animation, advertisements, video games, video art, and other visual media. The volumes in the series feature a variety of disciplinary and methodological approaches applied across historical periods and global contexts. While open to contributions from scholars working in any discipline and region, the series aims to highlight thoughtful perspectives conventionally absent from scholarly publishing. Volumes co-authored by scholars and media practitioners (filmmakers, game designers, sound designers, etc.) are also welcome. In featuring such works, the series looks to foreground innovative ideas that refine and enliven discourse around the use and meaning of music and sound in visual media.

Examples of themes covered in the series include but are not limited to the following:

● Sound, music, and visual culture across historical and contemporary eras

● Intermediality: Sound, music, visual media

● Sound design in film across genre/historical eras/directors/Studios/technologies
