Recorde: Journal of Sports History invites contributions of articles for
the dossier "Media, Sport, and Technology," which aims to explore the
intricate relationship between these three domains.
We are seeking articles that address, but are not limited to, the
following topics:
Historical Perspectives on Technology in Sport
Increasing and changing entanglement between sport and media logics:
mediatization of sports / sportification of media technology
Global, national and local negotiations of technological innovations
Sports fandom in the digital world (especially social and mobile media)
Technological transformations of sports broadcasting and sports journalism
Technological innovations in the organization and ruling of sports (e.g.
Video Assistant Referee, Hawk Eye and changing ideas of justice or
transparency) and their public perception
Big Data and AI in performance analytics and in media reporting on
sports (e.g. quantification of games, automatization of sports news)
Sport’s entanglement with digital culture (e.g. online sports betting,
Sports Video Games, Fantasy Games)
Economic, political and institutional dimensions of media/technology
innovations in sport
Interested contributors to the special issue should submit their
original articles following the submission guidelines of the Recorde
Journal to the email (grupodepesquisa100 /at/ gmail.com)
<mailto:(grupodepesquisa100 /at/ gmail.com)>. The articles should be up to
80,000 words and can be written in English, Portuguese, French, or Spanish.
Recorde is an open journal. No payment from the authors will be required.
The deadline for submission is October 31, 2023. Notification of
acceptance will be announced by March 1, 2024, and the publication is
scheduled for June 2024, just before the Olympics.
