[Commlist] Call for Papers: International Screen Studies Conference
Thu Oct 27 17:00:19 GMT 2022
*The 32nd International Screen Studies Conference, organised by the
journal /Screen/, will be held in Glasgow from Friday 30 June to Sunday
2 July 2023.*
/Screen /editors Jackie Stacey and Sarah Street welcome proposals for
single papers, audiovisual essays and pre-constituted three-person
panels on all topics in screen studies.
We are particularly keen to encourage contributors to a programming
strand which will focus on the theme of *Screen Worlds*. We invite
responses to this theme which address questions of world-making and
world-building and interrogate theories and politics of 'worlding' and
'unworlding' as discussed in decolonial studies and eco-criticism.
Proposals on how screen worlds are imagined and materialised could range
from critical race studies to climate crisis politics, and from
architecture and design to changing historical tastes and aesthetic
forms. Keynote speakers who will address this particular strand of the
conference will be confirmed in due course.
*The deadline for submitting proposals is midnight (GMT) on Sunday 8
January 2023.*
