Call for Abstracts: ICA (Paris 2022) Panel about TikTok and Education potentials.

Tom Divon / The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tobias Ebbrecht-Hartmann / The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (tom.divon /at/ mail.huji.ac.il) <mailto:(tom.divon /at/ mail.huji.ac.il)> ; (tobias.ebbrecht-hartmann /at/ mail.huji.ac.il) <mailto:(tobias.ebbrecht-hartmann /at/ mail.huji.ac.il)>

*We are looking for scholars who would like to take part in a panel proposal for ICA22 dealing with TikTok and education potentials*. Due to TikTok's rising popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, the platform has become the home for social media users of all ages. The worldwide rush to TikTok cemented the platform in mainstream culture and significantly increased the need to analyze its role and effects.

When building on the concept of educational potentials, we move beyond mere skills acquisition initiatives (like #EduTok or #LearnOnTikTok) or any E-learning experiences that accelerated on TikTok amidst the pandemic. Therefore, our definition of educational potentials is intentionally broad. We are intrigued by TikTok’s influences, contributions, and abilities to create a space that evinces educational values and invite you to enrich this theme with your research on TikTok and its derived educational potentials.

If you are interested in participating in this panel and contributing your critical analysis, please submit your abstract in the attached Google Forms link. We are looking for papers already in progress, from which you will be able to present, share, and reflect on concrete visual examples that support your thesis.

Submissions are welcomed until*September 25, 2021 (include)*.
