Connectist: Istanbul University Journal of Communication Sciences has 
identified the theme of its 60th issue (June, 2021) as “Communication 
During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

In this issue, based on the current global pandemic, we aim to focus on 
studies with a COVID-19 content and theme, a subject that is being 
currently discussed within a very extensive area, and on which a vast 
number of studies have already been produced.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which is considered as the most crucial global 
health calamity of the century, requires rigorous research and studies 
with an interdisciplinary approach, primarily in sociological, 
psychological and socio-psychological contexts. These studies should 
cover every discipline of communication, including interpersonal 
communication, mass communication, corporate communication, political 
communication, health communication, and studies of traditional and 
social media.

Such global epidemics, which are also the triggers of many changes and 
reorganizations in social, political and economic terms, require 
profound and extensive social readings. The first fact revealed by the 
epidemic is how significant and determinative effective communication is 
for the globalized world as it is for every single society.

As Connectist, we accept it as a responsibility to make available 
valuable studies discussed in this context to national and international 
academic individuals and institutions. In order to create an idea in 
terms of studying and discussion areas, we have determined the following 
topics as subfields of this issue. In addition, studies in topics other 
than the following, and that are related to the COVID-19 will be welcomed.

Full paper submission deadline: January 15th, 2021.
