CFP - Digital Shorts - Gaming and VR
The third annual RGS-IBG Digital Geographies Research Group Symposium
will be taking place at the University of Birmingham on 3 July 2019
examining ‘The geographies of gaming and VR’.
The one-day symposium will host a series of papers covering geographical
perspectives on gaming and VR (whether space, materiality, digitality,
virtuality, or technological, social and cultural approaches). There
will also be fun digital shorts where presenters will give a short
taster their research in challenging 2-minute time-slots.
Digital Shorts: In order to represent the breadth of research
examining gaming and VR within geography (and beyond!) as well as to
facilitate networking, participants are invited to give a 2-minute
‘digital short’. This format has proved popular at our previous
symposia, and can be a fun and challenging way to give a taster or your
research to a wide audience.
We have received a number of submissions for full papers, but would
now like to call for further submissions to the digital shorts
programme. We welcome interdisciplinary, creative, and experimental
submissions to bring new and interesting work to the programme. Digital
shorts are especially suitable for PGR students, creative practitioners,
and those with limited time to put together a longer paper, but who want
to contributing to this growing field.
Time for networking and socialising will be built into the programme
for the Symposium. We will also be offering online-only attendance for
those unable to travel in person.
Abstracts are due 1 May 2019.
Please use the abstract submission form (use the dropdown to select
