*Call for Paper*
*THE 5TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON URBAN STUDIES: BORDER,
TRANSPORTATION, AND SPACE*
This year’s theme is an expansion from the past 4th ICUS 2017 on /Border
and Mobility/ to accommodate the complexity in line with the current
state of perspectives and praxis by adding aspects of transportation and
space. In the context of Southeast Asia, the roles and future of state
borders, with their pertinent issues on territoriality, have gradually
become important themes in relation to borders and spatiality. The power
of globalization gives birth to a new world mostly characterized by
‘flows’ and ‘networks’ leading to a thesis for a ‘borderless’ world. In
this way, within the increasing interactions and networks, the roles of
the state as a crucial organizer of territorial spaces, meaning, as well
as the national interests are appealing as a field of inquiries.
The sub themes include the following topics:
1. Borders in global research
2. Borders in locality
3. Borders of identity movements
