[Commlist] international conference "Religions and the digital: metamorphosis and conversions"

We are pleased to inform you about the holding of the international 
conference Relicom "Religions and the digital: metamorphoses and 
conversions", on March 21st and 22nd in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium 
(Universite catholique de Louvain, Leclercq College, rooms LECL 93, 80, 81).

This symposium intends to examine what religions do to the digital, and 
what it does to them, in the case of different religious traditions 
(Christianity, Buddhism, magic as well as Islam, even digital as a 
religion). Some main themes are the digital developments of the 
religious communities, the digital mobilization for prayer and 
spirituality, but also the religious exchanges, the political and 
philosophical stakes of the digital, or the way in which Islam is 
diffused and valued by the digital. Other questions will probably emerge 
during the symposium.

Three guest speakers (Brazil, USA, France), a prospective round-table, 
23 speakers from 13 countries and several disciplines will provide a 
cross-referenced and diffracted approach to these issues.
