2nd Global Conference
Interculturalism: Exploring Critical Issues

Thursday 2nd December - Saturday 4th December 2004
Vienna, Austria

Call for Papers
(please cross post where appropriate)

This inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary
research and publication project aims to explore
the meaning and implications of interculturalism,
from both a practical, political perspective and
in a more strictly theoretical sense.

Papers, short papers, and workshops are invited
on issues related to any of the following themes:

* the various relationships between
'interculturalism and 'multiculturalism'
* interculturalism in an educational context
* religious issues and interculturalism
* interculturalism in art, literature and film
* the philosophy of interculturalism
* interculturalism and the politics of the
academy i.e. interculturalism and inter-
disciplinarity
* interculturalism and language
* resistance to interculturalism through
monoculturalism
* race, ethnicity and interculturalism
* racism, violence and interculturalism
* interculturalism and sexuality
* the ethics of interculturalism
* interculturalism and subculture
* interculturalism between 'West' and 'East'
* interculturalism and politics

Papers will be considered on any related theme.
300 word abstracts should be submitted by Friday
3rd September 2004. If accepted for presentation,
8 page draft conference papers should be
submitted by Friday 19th November 2004.

300 word abstracts should be submitted to both
the Organising Joint Chairs; abstracts may be in
Word, WordPerfect, PDF or RTF formats.

The conference is part of the Inter-
Disciplinary.Net 'Critical Issues'
programme of research projects. It aims to bring
together people from different areas and
interests to share ideas and explore various
discussions which are innovative and exciting.

One ISBN eBook has been published and one themed
hard copy volume is in preparation from the
previous meeting of this conference project.
All papers accepted for and presented at this
conference will be published in an ISBN eBook.
Selected papers will be developed for
publication in a themed hard copy volume.
