SUVA (Wansolwara Online/Pacific Media Watch): The Journalism
Programme at the University of the South Pacific (USP) is proud to be
hosting this year's annual conference of the Journalism Education
Association (JEA) from December 5-9.

Suva, Fiji Islands, is the destination for delegates from the Pacific
and Asia to make new friends, extend professional contacts and share
knowledge around the theme - Media Literacy in the Pacific and Asia.

Many of JEA's members are journalism educators from teaching
institutions around the region. They will come together with working
professionals from the diverse and developing media in the Pacific
and Asia. Students of journalism and media will also participate,
including those now studying at the USP.

The four-day programme will address the theme through three main topics:

*    regional news
*    community and vernacular media
*    media industry development.

The format will combine keynote addresses, research presentations,
panel discussions and workshops.

For those delegates who arrive a day early, the cost of registration
includes an overnight visit to an island near Suva. The conference
venue is the relaxed, harbourside hotel - JJs on the Park - in
walking distance of all major amenities in downtown Suva. All
recommended hotel accommodation is in walking distance or no more
than two minutes by taxi from the venue.
