[eccr] Sedona Conference, Education & Digital Media

Thu Aug 22 17:10:29 GMT 2002

Dear Colleague,

The 6th Sedona Conference on the convergence of education, entertainment
and technology will take place in Dublin on 24-26th October. The theme of
this international conference is "The Creative Process - Demystifying
Digital Media". The planned initiatives in Dublin's Digital Media District
are among the main reasons the Sedona conference has moved here from the US
for its autumn event. The conference website is
http://www.digitalmediaintelligence.com/sedona.html

The tone of the conference will be high-level knowledge sharing about
technology and education with discussion on where creativity comes in to
the equation. Dr. Edward de Bono will be the key note speaker, and many
other international speakers are confirmed from Europe, the US and the UAE.
Conference themes include education without borders, learning to bridge the
digital divide, creativity in the digital age, etc.The full programme is
available on the conference website.

We are expecting about 150 high level participants, including many from
the US, including leaders in higher education, together with business
people and others from the digital media and entertainment sectors. It is
our intention that Irish government representatives and senior executives
from the Digital Media District will also be there to ensure a unique
opportunity for exchange and learning.

Since its inception the Sedona conference has attracted nearly 500
participants from 17 countries and reflects the growing need for educators
and college leaders to understand more about the digital world and its
impact not only on students but on the way that colleges will function in
the future. The last Sedona conference in the US in April brought together
chancellors and presidents of major colleges from many States including
Arizona, North Carolina, Alaska and Kansas. Industrial sponsors in the US
have included Motorola, Fox and Miramax.

The Dublin conference is a joint venture between the Sedona Conference &
Conversations Inc., the Edward de Bono Foundation and Digital Media
Intelligence. The event has a loyal following and we are hoping to attract
significant interest from education institutions, training organisations
and research centres in Europe. Registration is now open on the conference
website and a number of sponsorship opportunities also exist. We would very
much appreciate any efforts you can make to publicise the conference
website and promote the event among your colleagues.

I look forward to seeing you in Dublin.

 Regards

 Kieran O'Hea
