Narrating Creative Regions: Leveraging Strategic Partnerships,
Collaborations, and Networks
Date: 17th January 2025

Overview: We are pleased to invite submissions for the upcoming half-day
symposium, ‘Narrating Regions: Leveraging Strategic Partnerships,
Collaborations, and Networks’. This event will explore the pivotal role
of strategic partnerships between higher education institutions and
creative businesses in driving regional economic growth, fostering
talent development, ensuring equitable access to the creative sector,
placemaking and enhancing other value indicators.
Symposium Objectives:
• To examine how collaborative efforts between academia and the creative
industries can stimulate regional economic development.
• To discuss innovative strategies for nurturing talent and facilitating
entry into the creative sector.
• To identify best practices for promoting equitable access and
participation within the creative industries.
• To evaluate the impact of strategic partnerships and networks on
creative and economic ecosystems.
Key Themes:
We welcome submissions from scholars, practitioners, and policymakers
that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:
• Economic Growth: Case studies and theoretical frameworks on how
academic-creative industry partnerships contribute to regional economic
development.
• Talent Development: Approaches to fostering talent through educational
programs, internships, and collaborative projects between universities
and creative businesses.
• Equitable Access: Strategies for increasing diversity and inclusivity
within the creative sector through higher education initiatives.
• Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Examples of how collaborations spur
innovation, entrepreneurship, and new business models within creative
industries.
• Policy and Practice: Analysis of policies that support or hinder
effective partnerships and collaborations.
• Measuring Impact: Metrics and methodologies for assessing the value
and impact of these partnerships on regions and communities.
Submission Guidelines:
We invite interested participants to submit abstracts of no more than
300 words outlining their proposed presentation. Submissions should
include the following:
Title of the presentation.
Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s).
Contact information.
A brief bio (up to 100 words) for each author.
Important Dates:
Abstract Submission Deadline: October 31st 2024
Notification of Acceptance: November 15th 2024
Symposium Date: 17th January 2025
Submission Process:
Please submit your abstracts to (roy.hanney /at/ solent.ac.uk) by October 31st
2024. Accepted presenters will be invited to deliver a 15-minute
presentation followed by a Q&A session.
