[Commlist] CFP Maternal Narratives on Screen

Tue Mar 28 09:33:35 GMT 2023

*/MATERNAL NARRATIVES ON SCREEN/*

*Hybrid Symposium*

*16 June 2023 – Manchester (UK) and online*

This symposium aims to explore representations of motherhood in cinema, television and videogames through 20-minute presentations and 15-minute video-essays. Thinking about motherhood tropes on screens can open up dialogues and encourage connections by giving visibility not only to popular but also underrepresented narratives of motherhood. It seeks to critically discuss images of motherhood and mothering by bringing together a broad range of national and international practicians, researchers, professionals and organisations. By exploring different mothering roles, figures and discourses from different perspectives, the symposium seeks to establish what kind of experiences are (under)represented and how.
