The seventh volume, /Mediality/Theology/Religion/, of the /Internationale Jahrbuch für Medienphilosophie/, is dedicated to the relations between media studies, theology, and religious studies. The collected texts assume that thinking digital technology is permeated with religious or theological concepts and loaded with religious sentiments and presumptions; for instance, assuming either an omniscience or omniscopic and epistopic overview over the realities of everyday life. While in media studies theological questions are mostly neglected, in theology or religious studies media is predominantly addressed in terms of mass media transmitting religious services, cults, rites, or practices. Here, we aspire to introduce another approach: a media-philosophical perspective, addressing, for example, the importance of the processes of mediation at the core of religious studies and theology. This volume offers specific reflections on methodologies, objects, and theories that suggest and emphasize intricate relations between these respective fields.
