Call for Papers
8th International Research Seminar on Media and Everyday Life
25 and 26 March 2021 (online)
Fluminense Federal University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

In its 8th edition, the event is organised by the Federal Fluminense University’s Postgraduate Programme in Media and Everyday Life (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Mídia e Cotidiano – PPGMC UFF) in partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro’s Postgraduate Programme in Information Science (Brazilian Institute of Science, Technology, and Information – IBICT). The event will gather researchers from Brazil and other countries, such as Douglas Kellner (University of California – US) and Guillermo Orozco Gómez (University of Guadalajara - Mexico). The theme is “Literacy and Critical Thinking in Communication, Information and Education”, which promotes a close dialogue between the fields of communication, information science and education.

Participants can send their abstracts to four Working Groups:
WG1 – Media, Politics and Citizen Communication
WG2 – Critical Competencies in Communication and Information
WG3 – Critical Media Education, multiple languages
WG4 – Media, Representation and Narrative Discourses
The event will comprise keynote lectures, conference papers for the working groups and two roundtables on “Perspectives on Literacy and Critical Thinking in Communication, Media and Everyday Life”

Registration fees:
Undergraduate students (not presenting papers): BRL 25,00
Undergraduate students based at UFF or UFRJ’s School of Communication: Free of charge
Postgraduate students: BRL 50,00
Academic staff and researchers: BRL 100,00
Other participants: BRL 40,00
