We are looking for candidates for two full-time faculty positions at the 
Department of Media and Visual Arts (MAVA) at Koç University, Istanbul.

Position #1 – Open Rank, Tenure-track Faculty Position in Media & 
Communication

Koç University, Department of Media and Visual Arts (MAVA) invites 
applications for full-time open rank faculty position (beginning 
September 2022). Areas of specialization are open, but candidates 
specializing in emerging media, media institutions, mass communication, 
media effects, media and politics, platforms, or strategic communication 
are particularly encouraged to apply. We especially encourage 
applications from candidates whose research agenda is interdisciplinary 
and from candidates with experience in computational approaches.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach two courses per semester 
and are expected to have an active research agenda. At the time of 
employment, candidates should have a PhD in a related field. Salary is 
commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Koç University is a foundation-funded, non-profit institution located in 
Istanbul, Turkey. The university is committed to the pursuit of 
excellence in both research and teaching. With 8820 active students, the 
university offers 22 undergraduate, 42 Master’s and 29 Phd programs. The 
medium of instruction is English.

MAVA at Koç University offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that 
emphasizes visual communication, visual design, interaction design, 
media studies, communications theory, media/arts management, film, and 
production. With this diversity, the department offers four 
certification programs focusing on Media and Management, Film and Video, 
Design, and User Experience.

Position #2 – Full-time Instructor Position in Design

Koç University, Department of Media and Visual Arts (MAVA) invites 
applications for a full-time instructor position in Design to start in 
September 2022.
We are looking for an innovative and dedicated applicant who will 
strengthen the teaching profiles of the department nationally and 
internationally as well as contribute to Koç University’s core 
activities in the areas of artistic networking, design studio, research, 
teaching and supervision, talent development and knowledge exchange.
At the time of employment, applicants should have a Masters or higher 
degree in design (visual design, communication design, graphic design, 
industrial design, product design, user experience design, animation, 
computer graphics, game design, or a related field), and have teaching 
and practical experience in any of these fields.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach three undergraduate 
courses in the design field per semester as well as contribute to and 
collaborate effectively in our teaching community.  Applicants with an 
active research agenda and the ones who combine practical and 
theoretical knowledge in their work are highly encouraged. Having taught 
scalable design studio classes is a plus. Salary is commensurate with 
the qualifications and experience.
