This Lecturer in Media and Communications (Digital Media Research Methods) will coordinate and teach into existing and new methods subjects in the graduate and undergraduate programs of Media and Communications. An ability to teach traditional quantitative research methods is essential. Other responsibilities include supervising honours, minor theses and PhD students. The Lecturer will be expected to have a strong track record of research and publications and the ability to contribute to the development of existing and future research projects, including participation as an investigator on ARC and/or externally funded research projects. The candidate will have strong skills in online data collection and analysis techniques, and the capacity to reflect on their social and ethical implications. The specific area of research focus is open, but an ability to complement existing research strengths in the Media and Communications Program is an advantage.

Media and Communications runs a very successful Major in the Bachelor of Arts and a number of highly successful Masters degrees, including Global Media Communication and Marketing Communication. Media and Communication features both quantitative and qualitative researchers from across the social sciences and humanities.

The Lecturer in Media and Communication (Media and Society) will be responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The incumbent will be expected to teach into the Media and Communication foundation subjects, such as; 'Media and Society' and 'Understanding Media and Communication’. Other responsibilities include supervising honours and minor theses.

The Lecturer will be expected to have a strong track record of research and publications and the ability to contribute to the development of existing and future research projects, including externally funded research applications. Candidates with a social science background and strong grounding in media theory - including an ability to apply critical approaches to key contemporary debates with media and communication - are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will foster engagement links with external networks/partners nationally and internationally and will be expected to take on administrative tasks associated with the appointment.
