The deadline is coming soon (Oct. 12) for a Lecturer position 
(equivalent to Asst. Professor) at Monash University:

The Communications and Media Studies program at Monash University is 
seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer to contribute to 
teaching and research in the field.

The Communications and Media Studies teaching program offers an 
undergraduate major to Honours level in the Bachelor of Arts, and 
teaches into the new Bachelor of Media Communication. It also has 
thriving graduate programs in the Master of Communications and Media 
Studies and the Master of Cultural and Creative Industries. The 
program’s researchers are engaged in a series of 
internationally-focussed projects that explain what it means to live in 
an age of powerful media and cultural institutions, proliferating 
digital and mobile technologies, and everyday media and cultural 
practices. Projects include those funded by the Australian Research 
Council and industry partners.

This position requires active and innovative academics to contribute to 
quality teaching through unit coordination and project supervision at 
undergraduate, Honours and Masters level. The successful appointee will 
coordinate units, prepare and present lectures and/or seminars, 
undertake marking and contribute to curriculum development. The units in 
which they will be involved will be negotiated on appointment. The 
discipline is looking particularly for Lecturers who are able to 
coordinate and teach into Masters units, undergraduate units and/or new 
units to be developed by the appointee.

The successful candidates will hold a PhD in the discipline area and 
show capacity to contribute strongly to research development in 
Communication and Media Studies at Monash. We would be particularly 
interested in applicants with expertise in the policy and regulation of 
digital media and data industries.
