The Department of Media and Communications at London School of Economics
and Political Science is hiring a new Assistant Professor in Media and
Communications, to begin September 2019. Applications are invited from
outstanding candidates in the field of media and communications.
The successful candidate will join an established and successful
department, ranked first in the UK’s 2014 Research Excellence Framework
evaluation and third in the QS 2016 world university rankings. The
Department is known for its distinctive interdisciplinary approach to
the field of media and communications, primarily based in the social
sciences, but also open to humanities perspectives.
Candidates must have expertise in one or more of the following areas of
research: audiences and cultural politics, and/or media for
development. Within these primary areas, we are particularly (though
not exclusively) interested in candidates with research and theoretical
expertise in the Global South, with a focus on issues of marginality and
social justice, especially around sexuality, race, class and disability.
