**CAMRI POLICY BRIEFS – new media policy recommendations on the gig 
economy and media representations **
CAMRI Policy Observatory are pleased to announce the open access 
publication of two further policy briefs.
3. APPEARANCE, DISCRIMINATION AND THE MEDIA: Portraying Facial 
Disfigurement Fairly in the News by Diana Garrisi, Laima Janciute and 
Jacob Johannsen
Argues that the portrayal of disfigurement in media must change. It 
urges further guidelines, more efficient regulation in order to shift 
the focus from sensationalised coverage to the lived experiences of 
individuals with this condition.

4. WELL-BEING AND MENTAL HEALTH IN THE GIG ECONOMY: Policy Perspectives 
on Precarity by Sally-Anne Gross, George Musgrave and Laima Janciute
Suggests the urgent need to consider the future of work from a 
well-being and mental health perspective based on extensive research on 
the music industry. Policy measures including education, support 
services, benign taxation regimes for the self-employed and a universal 
basic income are considered.
