[ecrea] Post-doctoral research jobs at the Reuters Institute, U of Oxford
Tue Aug 28 18:56:55 GMT 2018
Post-doctoral research positions in digital news and journalism at the
Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, University of Oxford
The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of
Oxford is seeking to appoint up to three new post-doctoral Research
Fellows to work for one or two years (depending on what works best for
the strongest candidates) as part of a larger project aimed at analysing
media developments in a sample of more than thirty countries (most of
them in Europe), with a particular emphasis on digital media, news, and
politics.
We are particularly interested in new colleagues who can help us develop
our understanding of one of the following key areas:
· Audiences’ engagement with and perception of news and media: how can
data from the Digital News Report survey and other research help us
understand how people around the world engage with news and media, what
their attitudes are towards journalism and digital technology, and what
political, social, and other factors influence their news and media use?
· Business model innovation and digital news: how are media
organisations developing new sources of revenue and new business models
to sustain news production in a digital media environment?
· Content and format innovation: how are journalists and news media
evolving new ways of telling stories that go beyond the traditional
forms of text, images, and video to embrace the potential of digital media?
· Trust in the news: how can we better understand, quantitatively and
qualitatively, trust in the news and ways in which journalists and news
media can address declining trust and reconnect with alienated audiences
who do not always see news as relevant?
The posts are available as soon as possible for up to 2 years. Start
date and length will be agreed individually.
These positions are an exceptional chance to be part of one of the
largest international studies of journalism and news in the world. Our
previous post-doctoral researchers have gone on to very good jobs
including tenure-track jobs in Germany, Ireland, the UK, the US and
elsewhere.
