Open Positions: Postdoc and PhD Student in Internet, Algorithms & Society at the University of Zurich

The Media Change & Innovation Division (Prof. Michael Latzer, http://www.mediachange.ch) at the IKMZ - Department of Communication and Media Research, University of Zurich, Switzerland invites applications for:

1 Postdoc (3 to 9 years)
and
1 Doctoral researcher/PhD student (3 to 6 years)

in the field of Internet, Algorithms and Society

Please send your application with the usual documents and a letter of motivation (one pdf file) to Dr. Moritz Büchi: (m.buechi /at/ ikmz.uzh.ch). Additionally, please attach a representative scientific contribution (publication in a scientific journal or excerpt from your doctoral dissertation for the position of the postdoc; or a scientific publication or Master’s thesis for the position of the doctoral researcher). The selection process will begin in July 2018. However, the job offers remain open until qualified candidates are found. The positions are fixed-term (initially 3 years) but can be renewed for up to 3 (PhD) or 6 (Postdoc) additional years.
Job specifications:
Participation in the research projects The Significance of Algorithmic Selection for Everyday Life (survey, tracking, interviews; especially in the domains of information seeking, commercial transactions, social communication and entertainment on the Internet) and/or World Internet Project - Switzerland (representative survey on Internet usage of the Swiss population and attitudes towards topics like online privacy, participation, digital well-being etc.). Further academic qualification along the lines of the division’s research and teaching areas.

Job requirements:
