*Professor in Media Studies *

The School of Communication and Culture invites applications for two to 
three professorship positions in the field of media studies. The 
positions are based at the Department of Media and Journalism Studies, 
which is part of the School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus 
University.
The appointments are tenured and begin on 1 January 2019, or as soon as 
possible thereafter.

*The positions*
We are seeking candidates to play key roles in the continued development 
of innovative and internationally recognised research and teaching at 
the Department of Media and Journalism Studies.
Each successful applicant must present a strategy for how he/she will 
contribute to the department’s research and education profile, and 
account for the relevance of his/her research in an international 
perspective (see qualifications section).
The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to and provide 
leadership in relation to Aarhus University’s core activities in the 
areas of research, teaching and supervision, talent development and 
knowledge exchange.

*Research*
The successful applicants are expected to strengthen the department’s 
international research profile with regard to at least two of the 
following core fields of study:

  * media institutions;
  * media production;
  * media texts;
  * media reception/media use;
  * the role of media in culture and society.

In addition to this, preference will be given to candidates whose 
research emphasises one or more of the following:

  * generating significant new findings, theory building or
    methodological innovation within media and communication studies;
  * addressing transformations within media policies, media regulations
    as well as media production and distribution;
  * contextualising digital technologies within existing debates in
    media studies as well as wider cultural and societal concerns;
  * expanding media studies into a more transdisciplinary exploration of
    mediated communication within other cultural, societal and
    institutional realms.

The successful applicants are expected to take part in and lead major 
externally financed research projects, and to be a driving force in the 
development of new national and international research networks.
