DESCRIPCIÓN

El viaje de circunnavegación de Magallanes-Elcano (1519-1522) nos dio 
una de las noticias más importantes para la Humanidad: la constatación 
fehaciente de que la Tierra es esférica. El V centenario de la efeméride 
(2019-2022) es una oportunidad excelente para la reflexión sobre el 
conocimiento científico que supuso aquel hecho histórico y sus 
implicaciones para el progreso (Robles,1985; Heawood, 1921).

Con estas páginas extra se pretende abordar la epopeya poniendo el foco 
en lo que supuso para la comunicación humana en múltiples sentidos. Un 
tiempo —el siglo XVI— en el que, entre otras cosas, la noción de noticia 
está en construcción y en el que todos hablan de ella como información 
cierta (Varona & Herrero-Diz, 2018).
En este monográfico en RLCS –seguido de libro colectivo– se pretenden 
aglutinar los resultados de aquellas investigaciones orientadas a 
conocer todos los hechos comunicativos e informativos actuales que 
podrían encontrar antecedentes en aquel tiempo: asuntos como la 
posverdad, las fake news, la marca personal y el liderazgo, la 
propaganda o las campañas de comunicación, etc.

El objetivo es ofrecer una visión comparada entre los inicios del siglo 
XVI, con la primera vuelta al mundo como protagonista, y nuestro mundo 
contemporáneo, con una dimensión global.
Ante este aniversario de enorme actualidad y proyección se hace una 
llamada de textos que traten los temas relacionados a continuación:

- Noticia y periodismo en el siglo XVI: análisis y comparación con el 
mundo actual.
-Poder, propaganda y storytelling: técnicas y estrategias de persuasión 
para el control del relato, entonces y ahora.
-El legado de lo escrito: documentación informativa de la primera vuelta 
al mundo (El Globo, Mercurio de España, Madrid Científico…).
-Las crónicas y relaciones de viajes: el papel del corresponsal a partir 
del testimonio de Antonio Pigafetta.
-Todos en el mismo barco: comunicación organizacional y psicología de la 
comunicación con las tripulaciones de aquellas travesías del siglo XVI 
como ejemplo y metáfora.
-Comunicación visual para viajar: diseño, cartografías e infografías y 
visualización de datos, del siglo XVI a nuestros días.
-Cultura y comunicación global: fronteras, multiculturalidad y 
cosmopolitismo a partir de la epopeya de la circunnavegación terrestre.
-La vuelta al mundo y su narración transmedia actual: libros, 
documentales, películas, medios sociales, etc.

Revisión científica y guía de publicación para autores
Doble par ciego por acreditados especialistas en la temática.
Los textos aprobados seguirán la pauta de presentación de cualquier 
artículo enviado a la revista e irán acompañados del correspondiente 
texto para los vídeos de presentación por sus autores, así como los 
resúmenes de sus CVs, según modelo:

Overview

The voyage of global circumnavigation by Magallanes-Elcano (1519-1522) 
provided us with one of the most important news for Humanity: the 
irrefutable confirmation that the Earth is spherical. The 500th 
anniversary of the event (2019-2022) is an excellent opportunity to 
reflect on the scientific knowledge that this historical fact and its 
implications meant for progress (Robles, 1985; Heawood, 1921). This 
issue is specifically intended to address the heroic deed, focusing on 
what it meant for human communication in multiple ways. A time-the 
sixteenth century-in which, among other things, the concept of news is 
under construction and in which everyone sees it as true information 
(Varona & Herrero-Diz, 2018).

This monograph in RLCS - followed by a collective book – is aiming to 
bring together the results of those research works whose objective is to 
know all the current communicative and informative facts that could find 
precedents at that time: issues such as post-truth, fake news, personal 
branding and leadership, propaganda, or communication campaigns, etc.

The objective is to offer a comparative vision between the beginning of 
the 16th century, with the first voyage of global circumnavigation as 
the leading role, and our contemporary world, with a global dimension.
On this anniversary of enormous current relevance and projection, a call 
is made for texts that cover the following relevant issues/topics:

-News and journalism in the sixteenth century: analysis and comparison 
with the current world.
-Power, propaganda and storytelling: persuasion techniques and 
strategies for the control of the story, now and then.
-The written legacy: informative documentation of the first 
circumnavigation of the globe (El Globo, Mercurio de España, Madrid 
Científico ...).
-The chronicles and travel reports: the role of the correspondent based 
on the testimony of Antonio Pigafetta.
-All in the same boat: organizational communication and psychology of 
communication with the crews of those sixteenth-century voyages as an 
example and metaphor.
-Visual communication for travelling: design, cartography and 
infographics and data visualization, from the 16th century to the present.
-Culture and global communication: borders, multiculturalism and 
cosmopolitanism from the epic of the circumnavigation of Earth.
- Voyage of global circumnavigation and its current transmedia 
narration: books, documentaries, films, social media, etc.

Journal Review Process and Submission Guidelines
Scientific review: Double-blind peer review by specialists in the field.
Approved papers to be included in the journal must comply with the 
journal guidelines. In addition, the authors video presentation must be 
accompanied by a text.
