        Objective:

To bring together a diverse group of researchers and practitioners for focused discussion and knowledge sharing on the topic of Virtual Reality research

Lily Díaz-Kommonen, Ji-Hye Lee, Andrea Mancianti and Mirjam Vosmeer


        Set-up:

This day is divided in two parts: the morning session, organized by Mirjam Vosmeer from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, will be dedicated to exploration and discussion of the ways that television can meet VR. The afternoon session is lead by Lily Díaz-Kommonen and Ji-Hye Lee from Media Lab Helsinki, and Andrea Mancianti from Sound Lab, Aalto University, with focus on different aspects of user engagement in VR.

The workshops will feature a list of different activities – including regular presentations on the topics in virtual reality, immersive user experience, and its creative applications, and interactive group-work.


        CALL FOR PAPERS:

Participants are invited to submit a short paper (2,000 – 4,000 words) in the extended ACM abstract format. Submitted papers will undergo a peer-review process.

Themes will include, but not be limited to:

- Embodiment in VR in Technological/Technical Aspect (including hardware issue such as headset and associated technology)

- Cognitive Enhancement in Virtual Reality

- Measuring User Engagement in Virtual Reality

- Gathering Data and Designing Application for Specific Target User in VR

- Using VR to Boost User Engagement for Next TV and Video Experience

- How(else) to Map the Sense of Physical Space in VR

- Interaction Between Multiple Bodies and Agencies in VR

Paper submissions should follow the SIGCHI template <https://sigchi.org/templates/>. All submissions will be reviewed by the workshop’s expert programme committee.

        Important dates:

Submission deadline: 17th March, 2018

Acceptance notification: 25th April, 2018

Camera-ready submission: 25th May, 2018
