Dissertation Fellowship: Gerardo Marín Diversity Fellowship 2019-2020
Job Summary
The University of San Francisco invites applications for the Gerardo
Marín Diversity Dissertation Fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The Gerardo Marín Diversity Fellowships seek to increase the presence of
currently underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in the U.S.
professoriate by supporting advanced doctoral candidates in completion
of their dissertation, or advanced candidates in a MFA, MArch, MLArch,
MUD, and MCP or similar program in completion of their master’s project
or creative work.
Job Responsibilities
Scholars complete their dissertation and initiate an ongoing program of
scholarly or creative work while becoming familiar with the usual
service responsibilities of a university faculty member. Scholars teach
one course in their discipline each semester and serve the University in
various capacities. The program will provide compensation and limited
support for relocation and research-related expenses. Additional support
includes office space, computer and library privileges.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates in disciplines in which racial and ethnic groups are
traditionally underrepresented will receive special consideration.
Candidates must have completed all course work leading to their
doctorate by Summer 2019 and must be considering a career in college
teaching in one of the following fields in the College of Arts and Sciences:
Art + Architecture (Architecture, Art History, Design, Fine Arts)
Communication Studies
Economics
English
Media Studies
Rhetoric and Language (Composition, Public Speaking, ESL)
Sociology

description of research plans; evidence of teaching ability (including
