De Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) is voor het Lectoraat Play & Civic
Media van de Faculteit Digitale Media & Creatieve Industrie (FDMCI) op
korte termijn op zoek naar een:
RESEARCHER (0,4 - 0,6 FTE)
met een passie voor nieuwe technologie, in het bijzonder Virtual
Reality (VR).
DE FUNCTIE
In deze functie, die valt binnen ons onderzoeksprogramma Storytelling
voor 360° Media begeef je je op het snijvlak van technologie, design,
filmkunde en mediapsychologie. Storytelling voor 360° Media is het
eerste Nederlandse door de overheid gesubsidieerde onderzoeksprogramma
naar de werking van VR. Binnen dit programma voeren we experimenten uit
waarbij elementen van de nog in ontwikkeling zijnde filmtaal voor VR
worden geïsoleerd en getest op hun immersieve kwaliteit. We werken onder
meer samen met de Nederlandse Filmacademie, AVROTROS, VPRO, IDFA DocLab
en met diverse partners uit de creatieve industrie. In samenspraak met
VR producenten werken we onderzoeksvragen uit die moeten leiden tot
nieuwe strategieën aangaande de productie en toepassingen van
(cinematic) VR en de impact die dit nieuwe medium op de gebruiker heeft.
Je werkt in deze functie nauw samen met de hoofdonderzoeker van het
programma en je richt je onder meer op de volgende activiteiten:
* Uitvoeren van experimenten op gebied van VR Storytelling;
* Meeschrijven aan publicaties en onderzoeksverslagen;
* Organiseren van kennisverspreiding;
* Ondersteunen bij schrijven voor nieuwe subsidieaanvragen/calls;
* Contact onderhouden met industriepartners;
* Organisatie van presentaties en P.R.;
* Ondersteunen bij project administratie;
* Coachen van studenten.
WIJ ZOEKEN
Je bent afgestudeerd of gepromoveerd op een verwant onderzoeksthema en
je hebt aantoonbare academische onderzoeks- en schrijfvaardigheden. Je
bent bekend met zowel kwalitatieve als kwantitatieve onderzoeksmethoden
en je bent flexibel in houding en aanpak.
DE AFDELING
Het lectoraat Play and Civic Media is een interdisciplinaire
onderzoeksgroep die zich richt op game design en immersieve en civic
media, zoals virtual reality, serious games, online platforms en digital
placemaking.
WIJ BIEDEN
De werkzaamheden maken deel uit van de organieke functie Onderzoeker 4.
Bij deze functie hoort de loonschaal 10 (cao hbo). Het salaris bedraagt
maximaal €3994,- bruto per maand bij een volledige aanstelling en is
afhankelijk van opleiding en ervaring. Het betreft in eerste instantie
een tijdelijke aanstelling voor één jaar. Verlenging is afhankelijk van
gebleken geschiktheid, formatieruimte en de toestroom van nieuwe studenten.
De HvA heeft een uitgebreid pakket secundaire arbeidsvoorwaarden,
waaronder een ruime vakantieregeling en een 13e maand. Daarnaast biedt
de HvA (via de HvA Academie) uitstekende studie- en
ontwikkelingsmogelijkheden en stimuleert medewerkers om zich

THE POSITION
This position is part of the research program /Storytelling for 360°
Media/ within the Media, Creation and Information Knowledge Centre, at
the Play and Civic Media lectureship. Within this project, insights from
technology, design, film studies and media psychology are combined to
set up experiments in which we explore the possibilities of virtual
reality and the new movie language that is being developed for this
upcoming medium. We collaborate with Dutch television companies, the
Dutch Film Academy, the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam and
a range of industry partners. Together we set up research questions that
will eventually lead to new strategies on the production and use of
(cinematic) VR and the immersive impact it may have on it’s users. In
this position you will collaborate closely with the principal researcher
of this project and be involved in:
* assisting in setting up experiments on VR Storytelling;
* co-authoring publications;
* organising dissemination of knowledge on VR;
* assisting in writing new grant proposals;
* organising presentations and P.R. activities;
* assisting in project administration;
* coaching of students.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
A researcher with a master or PhD in a related field of research, with a
track record of high quality research output and knowledge of both
quantitative and qualitative research methods.
DEPARTMENT
The lectoreship Play and Civic Media is an interdisciplinairy research
group, focused on game design and immersieve and civic media, such as
virtual reality, serious games, online platforms and digital placemaking.
WE OFFER
The duties are part of the organic position Researcher 4. The position
is graded at Scale 10 on the wage scale (Collective Labour Agreement for
Higher Education). The basic monthly gross salary amounts to a maximum
of € 3994,- (full-time position equivalent) and is based on education
and experience. The position is a temporary assignment for one year but
may be extended. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences offers an
