*International Conference “Portugal in (and in the time of) the First World War”*

*CFP now open, due on 18th February 2018*

It is now open until 18th February 2018 the CFP for the upcoming International Conference “Portugal in (and in the time of) the First World War”, to be held in the University Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), in Vila Real (Portugal), 19th-20th April 2018.

As part of the celebrations towards the first century of the end of the First World War, this International Conference seeks to explore the memories, textual representations of such conflict, the scientific evolution in that period, as well as the communication tools that were part of the public space throughout the years of the war.

As such, the CFP welcomes proposals in areas of the following topics:

1.           Memories and textual representation in the First World War;

2.           The First World War and the scientific evolution;

3.           Cultural manifestations during the war;

4.           Communication throughout the war

5.           Religion in the aftermath of conflict times.

Communication proposals should be addressed to the e-mail ((cultura /at/ utad.pt)), with the following information: 1) scientific area to be included (from the above mentioned ones); 2) title and abstract (up to 500 words), as well as 3-4 keywords; 4) a short biographical description of the authors (100 words). Each intervention shall be presented in 20 minutes.

The conference is organized by DLAC (UTAD) and CITCEM research centre. Other institutions participate as well, from museums (Museu Bernardino Machado; Museu Diocesano de Lamego) and military organizations.
