*Just Published: /NANO: New American Notes Online/ Special Issue 12:
/Star Wars: The Force Awakens/*
How does /Star Wars: The Force Awakens/ continue the saga’s cultural
influence by going beyond film into transmedia? The new issue of /NANO:
New American Notes Online/, an open access City Tech humanities journal,
explores this and related questions by considering fanfiction’s
appropriations, fandom’s embrace of iconic aspects of the film’s
characters, the film’s role as a machine for disseminating an ideology
of capital, and reinterpretations of Joseph Campbell’s hero myth. Also,
an interview with Cass R. Sunstein, author of /The World According to
Star Wars/, strengthens this issue’s examination of /The Force Awakens/.
