With the objective of consolidating the teaching staff at BA and MA levels, as well as boosting its research output, the School of Human Sciences at the Catholic University of Portugal  is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Journalism Studies. The candidate selected is to lecture two or three curricular subjects and also holds responsibility for the production of the pedagogical materials provided to students. The contract is for a period of five months beginning in February 2018 with the scope for renewal on a full-time basis for the 2018/19 academic year.

Application requirements:

·Hold a doctoral degree in Communications Studies, preferably specialising in the study of journalism or media studies;

·Have a track record of scientific production on journalism or media companies;

·Hold excellent written and oral communications skills in both Portuguese and English.

The existence of past lecturing experience and/or working in the field of journalism shall be taken into consideration by the jury when evaluating candidates but does not represent a pre-requisite.

Interested parties are to submit an application letter, a CV, one of their publications (or an excerpt from their doctoral thesis, with a maximum of 20 pages) and two recommendation letters to (cmorgado /at/ fch.lisboa.ucp.pt) <mailto:(cmorgado /at/ fch.lisboa.ucp.pt)>. The deadline for applications ends on 23 November 2017. Following this date, the candidates that best meet the aforementioned requirements shall be contacted for an interview and may be invited to present a class or produce pedagogical materials.
