[ecrea] New series: Animation: Key Films/Filmmaker

Fri Jul 21 17:51:18 GMT 2017

new book series, *‘/Animation: Key Films/Filmmakers/’
established with the publisher Bloomsbury.

The series will launch in Jan 2018 with three titles:

//

/Toy Story/ edited by Susan Smith, Noel Brown, and Sam Summers

https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/toy-story-9781501324918/

/Norman McLaren/ authored by Nichola Dobson

//

/Princess Mononoke /edited by Rayna Denison

https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/princess-mononoke-9781501329760/

The driving motivation behind the series is to create a scholarly resource that will be useful at all levels, as well as providing a supportive structure within which scholars are encouraged to explore in detail films/filmmakers beyond the mainstream (and, in time, also the mainstream).

The second wave of books in the series already in development/contracted include:

/Grendel, Grendel, Grendel/ authored by Dan and Lienors Torre

/Hayao Miyazaki: The Early Years/ authored by Raz Greenberg

/The Adventures of Prince Achmed/ authored by Caroline Ruddell

I would be thrilled to hear from folks interested in pitching a book for this series. Books can be either edited collections or monographs, and I am particularly keen to see the early focus of the series to be less-US/less-Disney, given the wealth of material already catering to this subject matter . . . but, I’m willing to reconsider this if you have a brilliant idea!

All entries in the series are standard length books (70k-100k words) and will feature a ‘Guide to Further Research’ as part of their structure.
