Connecting Canada – Connecting the World Conference

December 7 to 9, 2017

York University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The Connecting Canada – Connecting the World Conference will explore the connections that create Canada and connection beyond Canada that connect the world, with communication, transportation, culture, politics, the economy, ideas and beyond.Connecting Canada brings an interdisciplinary focus to the celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary at York University. Canada's political and economic history traditionally refers to the connection of the country from east to west drawing on various technologies, first the canals and then the very celebrated story of the country's railways. Radio through broadcasting created a cultural and emotional bond uniting the country simultaneously from coast to coast going beyond the connections of canals and railway that were largely conduits for trade and structures for political organization. Radio and subsequent communications systems created a sense of Canadian unity and identity in new ways that superseded the physical boundaries of the Canada.

To explore the theme of Connecting Canada – Connecting the World the conference will examine various connections:

Priority will be giving to the themes of:

1) Environment
