The Visual Studies Platform at CEU invites applications for a Visiting 
Professor in visual theory and methodology with particular emphasis on 
digital and interactive media as well as cross-media perspectives. We 
are looking for an experienced academic with a strong background in 
theoretical reflection and comparative media analysis. The successful 
candidate will offer a 2 credit MA course as part of the Visual Theory 
and Practice curriculum for 1 semester (Fall or Winter 2017/2018). The 
proposed course may include visual and media theory, digital cultures, 
history and theory of new media and web-based technologies. Candidates 
who apply are asked to identify their strengths and experiences in 
curriculum development and working with interdisciplinary graduate 
students in novel ways to accomplish curricular goals. They are also 
expected to contribute to relevant knowledge exchange initiatives with 
institutional partners outside CEU. Potential candidates are encouraged

The position contributes to the core of the Visual Theory and Practice 
curriculum established by CEU’s Visual Studies Platform. VSP is an 
interdisciplinary initiative designed to explore and propose innovative 
approaches to research and teaching visual imagery in the humanities and 
social sciences and foster expertise in this field across the 
university. CEU is a graduate institution with an intellectually vivid 
and stimulating environment known for its highly motivated and diverse 
students and faculty.
Qualifications:
Applicants will be expected to provide a portfolio with evidence of:
·a PhD degree or equivalent within visual studies, digital media, new 
media, media history and theory or a related field;
·an internationally-recognized research profile in the field
·ideally three years graduate level teaching experience within visual 
theory or media studies;
