Within the Faculty of Arts, the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies (MMCCS) comprises of a number of disciplines dedicated to understanding contemporary media, and to developing valuable practical skills. It is the largest department within the Faculty of Arts and offers students flexibility with their degrees to ensure a well-rounded, customised study program.

The Role

The Department currently has an opportunity for a Lecturer with scholarly expertise in Radio theory and production. The successful applicant will be expected to make a contribution to research; teach units in related disciplines within MMCCS at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. The applicant will also be expected to contribute to the administration of the Department, Faculty and University.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please demonstrate the below criteria in a covering letter (not more than 2 pages) and your resume.

Essential Criteria:

    A PhD in Media or a relevant discipline.
A research track-record including quality peer-reviewed publications and audio productions, relevant to opportunity. A track-record in radio production/presentation demonstrating industry experience and/or a body of work. Working knowledge of radio studios and competency with radio production techniques, appropriate audio technologies and software. Demonstrated teaching experience and evidence of high quality teaching contributions across one or more relevant disciplines in MMCCS, particularly in the areas of radio and audio production. Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria:

Working knowledge of Pro Tools or other audio editing/mixing system with experience teaching radio, radio journalism and related audio programming: i.e., demonstrate good knowledge of production, relevant software and creative techniques of broadcasting and broadcast/audio journalism.

Demonstrated interest in new techniques and forms relevant to current audio broadcast and related audio/radio dissemination and production across a range of forms or platforms

Salary Package: Level B from $96,970 to $114,732 per annum, plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
