The Religion Area and Race and Whiteness Studies Area are calling for
submissions for the *8th Annual International Popular Culture
Association of Australia and New Zealand (PopCAANZ) Conference,* 28 – 30
June, 2017, Massey University, College of Creative Arts, Wellington, New
Zealand.
Presentations on any aspect of religion and popular culture and race and
whiteness and popular culture can be made to the Area Chair, Dr. Holly
Randell-Moon at: *(religion /at/ popcaanz.com)* <mailto:(religion /at/ popcaanz.com)>
and *(raceandwhitestudies /at/ popcaanz.com)*
<mailto:(raceandwhitestudies /at/ popcaanz.com)>. The conference invites
academics, professionals, cultural practitioners and those with a
scholarly interest in popular culture to submit a 150 word abstract and
100 word bio by *March 31, 2017*.
The Popular Culture Association of Australia and New Zealand (PopCAANZ)
is devoted to the scholarly understanding of everyday cultures. It is
concerned with the study of the social practices and the cultural
meanings that are produced and are circulated through the processes and
practices of everyday life, as a product of consumption, an intellectual
object of inquiry, and as an integral component of the dynamic forces
that shape societies.
PopCAANZ will publish double-blind peer reviewed Conference Proceedings
online following the conference, and presenters will be invited to
submit suitable articles to our new journal from June 2016, /The Journal
of Asia-Pacific Pop Culture/ (Penn State University Press). For
