      Position Description

The College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University seeks a scholar and teacher with production and post-production skills in graphic design, photography, video, data visualization, and multimedia, with a special emphasis on science communication. This is a non-tenure-track, full-time position, renewable annually based on performance. Candidates must possess a MA, MFA or Ph.D. in a related field at the time of application.

This position would reside within the Communication Training Center (CTC) of the College of Media & Communication, and the successful candidate will offer regular workshops for doctoral students and faculty for improving graphic design, data visualizations, videos, photos, etc. in grant proposals and major publication manuscripts. This position would also offer consulting services for select major proposals and publication manuscripts as designated by the Vice President for Research.

The successful candidate will also teach two courses per long academic semester, with additional opportunities for summer teaching, within the College of Media & Communication. She or he will have a proven track record of professional accomplishment and substantial teaching experience in graphic design and at least one of the following areas: photography, videography, digital media post-production, interactive media, and/or web design. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds in the visual communication of scientific, medical or technical concepts.

Preferred qualifications include a combination of at least five years of combined professional/practical and post-secondary teaching experience; exceptional visual and interpersonal communication skills; a strong portfolio of professional media production work; and experience working across academic disciplines in a variety of communication contexts.

The CTC is an exciting new university-wide initiative designed to provide supplemental and advanced training in oral and visual communication for faculty and graduate students across the institution, as directed by the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan. We are looking for a dynamic, creative-minded individual who enjoys working with faculty from a broad array of disciplines, including but not limited to the Humanities, Education, Health Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
