Call for Book Chapters

Journalism, Diaspora and Conflict

Editors Ola Ogunyemi and Sanem ªahin

Publisher: Proposed to Palgrave Macmillan

It is well documented in literature that the diasporic media plays connective and orientation roles for the diaspora groups by providing culturally relevant information and educating them about how the system works in the host countries. But in the homeland where conflict is raging, the diasporic media is a source of vital information and a platform for projecting the voices of diaspora groups. However, we have little understanding of how diasporic media/journalists perceive their roles in conflict situation. Hence, this edited book aims to capture this and other issues, including but not limited to, the representation of conflicts in diasporic media and how diasporic communities or agencies use it as a platform for articulating conflict resolution initiatives.

Please send a short abstract detailing the chapter title, theory, method(s) and case study. Please provide a paragraph of ‘bionote’ and contact details with your abstract.

Last date for receiving abstracts (300 words): 4 April 2016.

Abstract confirmed: 28 April 2016. Deadline for draft full paper: 30 September, 2016.
