The University of Westminster’s Masters in Film and Television is the
longest running course of its kind in the UK, integrating the study of
film and television in their aesthetic, cultural, and historical
dimensions with knowledge of commercial, industrial and other aspects of
production and reception. We are looking for a senior lecturer and
potential course leader capable of taking the course to the next stage
of its development.
The successful candidate will be an experienced lecturer, ideally with
an internationally-recognised profile academic research in film and
television. You will have experience of designing, planning and
delivering modules and managing academic staff.
The main teaching duties for this post will be on the MA Film and
Television: Theory, Culture and Industry. Senior lecturers are also
expected to identify areas where current provision is in need of
revision or improvement. They may be required to teach on other film and
television courses - at undergraduate and post-graduate level. They will
be expected to contribute to the faculty’s vibrant and highly rated
community of media researchers, either via individual research or
collaborative projects. This will mainly take place through our research
institute, CREAM. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), CREAM
was rated the number one centre in the country for research across the
range of visual and media art and design, with 91% of our research
assessed as either ‘world leading’ (4*) or ‘internationally excellent’
(3*).
The post is full time and is based in Harrow, Middlesex. Some teaching
may take place in Central London.
