The Department of Media and Visual Arts <http://mava.ku.edu.tr/> at Koç
University would like to invite applications for a full-time assistant
professor position starting in September 2016, connected to the Koç
University – Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries (KUAR)
<http://kuar.ku.edu.tr/>.

The position is allocated for candidates specializing in Industrial
Product Design, or Interaction Design. Applicants are expected to have a
PhD degree in design, engineering or social sciences prior to the time
of appointment in September 2016, a record of demonstrated research
accomplishments. We especially encourage applications from candidates
whose research agenda is interdisciplinary. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.

Koç University is a foundation-funded, non-profit institution located in
Istanbul, Turkey. The university is committed to the pursuit of
excellence in both research and teaching. The medium of instruction is
English. Normal teaching load consists of four courses per year. The
university’s Department of Media and Visual Arts has programs at

Koç University Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries (KUAR),
founded jointly by Koç University and Arçelik A.Ş. (see
www.arcelikas.com <http://www.arcelikas.com/>) in January, 2015, aims to
add value, via research, that increases the efficiency and international
competitiveness of Turkish creative industries. A wide range of topics
such as lifestyle, entertainment (game, performance, movies, drama,
animation), cultural heritage (exhibitions, heritage, analysis),
info-assistance, transportation, education, healthcare lie within the
scope of research conducted at KUAR, where research and development on
conceptual/experimental/visionary prototypes, working prototypes,
re-design prototypes of products, design guidelines is undertaken.
KUAR’s 250m2 open-plan workspace is located within Koç University’s main
campus in Sarıyer. Facilities that include workshops for fabricating
electronics and mechanical components, IT resources, studios and
equipment for audio/visual productions, user experience laboratories and
exhibition spaces are available for use by researchers at KUAR.

The deadline for applications is March 31 2016 or until the position is
filled.
