The Liverpool Screen School seeks two highly motivated individuals to join our Film studies programme team. The School forms part of LJMU's Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies and offers undergraduate courses in Creative Writing, Drama, Film Studies, Journalism and Media Production and postgraduate courses in International Journalism, Writing and Screenwriting. It prides itself in developing a warm and friendly environment with a strong commitment to nurturing and supporting creativity whilst offering excellent learning resources and first-class student support.

Film Studies is a well-established programme with a growing research profile and reputation, particularly in Film Festivals, Transnational Cinemas, European Film and Black American Culture. The team currently comprises four full time members of staff, all of whom are research and/or professionally active and play a part in delivering undergraduate programmes. The Film Studies Programme at LJMU offers a hybrid model with all students undertaking theoretical/critical modules alongside practical filmmaking. The films that the students produce are of a very high standard, with a number being entered for festivals.

This area is developing its strategic priorities in research, public engagement and particularly in postgraduate provision. Reporting to the Programme Leader, the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will play a role in a these developments as well as undertaking teaching and administrative duties across the Film Studies portfolio.

Liverpool has a strong filmic tradition; after London, it is the most filmed city in the UK. In 2012, filming levels increased by 22% with 894 filming days taking place in the city. In total, 227 films, programmes and adverts brought in £19 million to the local economy.

LJMU is proud to have connections with many local media production companies such as FACT, LA Productions, Lime Pictures, Liverpool Film Office, ITV and the BBC.
