[ecrea] Professorship in Communication Science at Friedrich-Schiller University

The Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a
W2/W3-Professor in Communication Science with a focus on empirical methods
starting as soon as possible.
The applicant must have a proven track record in the spectrum of methods
of all relevant sub disciplines of empirical communication science,
especially in communicator research, media content research, and
reception studies; the applicant should be able to represent these
strengths excellently in both teaching and research.
The applicant’s research should focus on the application and development
of quantitative and qualitative methods for the empirical analysis of
networked interpersonal and mass communication. Experience in the
application of methods from empirical research projects on the
interactions among society, the political system, and the media system
is desirable. The applicant is expected to contribute to the conception
and realization of a faculty Center of Methods, and should have a track
record in acquiring third-party funding.
The task profile of the professorship includes education in methods and
statistics in the BA and MA programs of the department.
Requirements for the position are pedagogical aptitude (proven by course
evaluations), PhD, and Habilitation (or equivalent scientific achievements).
Friedrich Schiller University encourages the hiring of female

If this is a candidate’s first professorship, employment will begin with
a temporary contract; exceptions to this are possible (ThürHG §79(2)).
