Assistant Professorship in Transnational Governance
The Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (Universitair
Docent) position in transnational governance. Scholars may come from a
variety of backgrounds such as International Relations (IR), or
global/international governance, or comparative regional/national
governance, or political economy/public policy, all broadly construed.
The position is open with respect to substantive subfield and research
specialisation. The position is also open with respect to regional
expertise, including scholars focusing on the governance of the European
Union and/or external relations. Appropriate methodological expertise is
required, and a sympathy for mixed methods is encouraged. Candidates, in
any event, should contribute to the Department¹s teaching profile in the
international relations and/or political economy/public policy curriculum
at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to the research profi
le of the Department?s research programme on ?Political Economy and

The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has an internationally acclaimed
profile, located at the heart of the Dutch capital. As well as a world
centre for business and research, Amsterdam is a hub of cultural and
media activities. The University of Amsterdam is a member of the League
of European Research Universities. The Faculty of Social and Behavioural
Sciences (FMG) is the largest educational and research institution in the
social sciences in the Netherlands. The Department of Political Science

highly-international departments in the faculty.
Applicants must have a PhD in political science/international
relations/public policy or other relevant field in the social sciences.
The appointment will be temporary for three years, with the prospect of a
permanent appointment if the conditions for tenure are realized. The
gross monthly salary will be between $3259 and $5070 plus benefits, based
on a full-time appointment and depending on the appointee's
qualifications and experience. The successful candidate should be able to
take up the position in the summer of 2015.
