The European Audiovisual Observatory is recruiting a Temporary Analyst
“Animation Market” (Grade B5)

Published: 05/01/2014
Deadline: 16 January 2015 (midnight Central European time)

Job mission

Under the authority of the Head of Department for Information on
Markets and Financing of the European Audiovisual Observatory, the
person recruited will support the implementation of the project
“Mapping of the European animation market” entrusted by the European
Commission (Europe Creative Programme) to the European audiovisual
Observatory.

Activities

The person recruited performs all or a combination of the following duties:

Implements the collection and primary processing of data on production
and circulation of animation works on different markets (cinemas,
television, video, video on demand);
drafts a publication and a technical report on the animation market in
Europe intended for the European Commission services as well as
professionals specialising in the area;
presents the resulting work on the occasion of institutional and
professional events (in particular the MIFA 2015);
Liaises with the partners of the project (Cartoon, CITIA) and with
other data suppliers (professional organisation, national film
agencies, companies).

The person recruited will report on the results achieved and on the
problems encountered to the Head of Department for Information on
Markets and Financing.

Duration

The candidate must be available at the latest on 15 February 2015. The
person recruited will be offered a 9-months temporary contract, not
renewable.

Essential competencies

Managerial skills: management of projects.

Professional and technical competencies:

qualifications: appropriate higher education; a post-secondary
qualification in economy, business, political sciences, communication,
would be an advantage;

professional expertise: three years of relevant experience in the
field of research in the drafting of studies on the film industry
and/or management of databases related to the film industry; good
knowledge of European film and audiovisual markets and information
sources, in particular good knowledge of the complete value chain of
the film industry (public and private financing, production,
distribution, exhibition, home video, VoD); knowledge of the animation
sector would be an advantage;

proficiency in data-collection and research using new technologies
(Internet, electronic databases, etc.);

ICT skills: sound computer skills of standard tools in office
applications (word processing, spreadsheet, databases,
presentations…); very good knowledge of IT-facilities;

Communication and linguistic skills: Listening and communication
skills; has very good knowledge of one of the official languages of
the Council of Europe (English or French) in oral and written
communication, and good knowledge of one other official language of
the Observatory (English, French, German).

Other competencies

Professional and technical competencies:

professional expertise : experience of processing economic and
statistical information relating to the film and/or audiovisual
sectors is desirable;

good knowledge of html-editing tools would be an advantage.

Interpersonal skills: service and client orientation, team-work and
co-operation, relationship-building.

Communication and linguistic skills: knowledge of other European
languages would be an advantage.

Personal attitudes: initiative and responsibility, result orientation
and sense of continuous improvement, concern for quality, efficiency
and accuracy, adaptability, self-management and development,
organisational alignment.

Personal values: integrity, loyalty and conscience, discretion,
independence and confidence, respect for diversity.
