[ecrea] Vital Theory: The Meanings of memory
Wed Nov 26 20:17:32 GMT 2014
We warmly invite you to Vital Theory 2014: The Meanings of Memory, which
is being held on December 12th, from 9am to 4:30pm at the
NottinghamContemporary.
Vital Theory is an annual symposium organised by postgraduate students
at the University of Nottingham’s Centre for Critical Theory. This one
day symposium aims at creating a space for debate and reflection, rather
than presentations of completed research. Participants will present
original papers on ideas of memory and commemoration. In contrast to
reflections on the past, speakers also look to the future and consider
how the digital age might affect our right to be forgotten.
In addition to the keynotes and position papers, this symposium is
composed of an interactive workshop, in which we look at objects
connected to memory, as well as 'anti-market' stalls, where theorists
are advertised, concepts are traded and knowledge is shared.
This year’s keynotes will be delivered by TraceyPotts and Andrew Goffey.
Please note that although this event is free you need to register here.
Lunch will be provided.
