[ecrea] new publication: embodied encounters

Mon Oct 20 06:03:25 GMT 2014

Embodied Encounters: New Approaches to Cinema and Psychoanalysis has just been published by Routledge. I have had the privilege of editing it and leading an astonishing group of internationally renowned scholars who work in psychoanalysis and film. We come from different theoretical backgrounds, deal with documentary and fiction, and are united in our conviction that psychoanalysis still has a lot to offer to film studies.

The contributors to the volume include in alphabetical order Robert Burgoyne, Elizabeth Cowie, Carla Ambrosio Garcia, Joanna Dogalis, Stephen Frosh, John Izod, Luke Hockley, Vicky Lebeau, Carol MacGillivray, Nicholas Muellner, Michael Renov, Naomi Segal, Ben Tyrer, Emma Wilson and myself. You can learn more about the book here: http://www.routledge.com/books/details/9781138795259/

On 27th October please join us at the Freud Museum for symposium which will celebrate the book and the new ways of thinking about the unconscious and the body in film. My institution, the University of Bedfordshire, is generously supporting the event again offering all participants coffee, a light lunch and drinks and canapés at the actual launch.

The event is free and students are welcome but please register soonest: The event is free but please register soonest on https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/embodied-encounters-tickets-12908223845
